Backstory
It goes without saying I'm very proud of my website. TrekTastic is a bespoke platform built from the ground up by myself, to provide an immersive and image‑first experience.
By trade I am a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer with many years of IT knowledge. I have my own IT and web development company enabling me to build projects like this in my spare time.
Designed around long‑form adventures, rich galleries, and fast‑loading media - visitors feel like they’re stepping into the journey, not just reading about it. Under the hood, images are processed in bulk and cached, delivered in crisp WebP and traditional formats ensuring the best viewing experience possible.
My favourite feature is that content imports are streamlined with simplicity in mind, so large photo sets can be uploaded quickly to a folder on the server then processed in one click - No faff! The hosting itself is intentionally lean and reliable (PHP, lightweight database, static‑style pages), and I manage the infrastructure end‑to‑end — hosting, deployments, performance tuning, and uptime.
I'd say I need to get out more but I do enough of that these days!
