Following a trip to the zoo on Sunday I managed to get 3 miles out of one battery... which isn't bad as they are 6 years old, but it got me thinking that I should probably look at getting new batteries to get rid of range anxiety (as that's an actual thing!)
I placed an order with Steering Developments for two new batteries and a charger on Tuesday afternoon and it arrived Wednesday morning at 09:24 - can't grumble at such speedy service!
From what I've been told batteries direct from Trekinetic are £800 each... the batteries from SD worked out at £650 each with a promotion they currently have until the end of the month - that's not a bad difference!
Now you might be wondering why I didn't just chain two 12 volt batteries together and go the DIY route - space is one thing as I'd need to make a new battery box, but more importantly my chair is proving to be a lifeline with saving the old knees so I'd rather not mess too much and risk breaking it... if I do ever manage to find a broken Trekinetic though...
After a quick charge I did a very scientific whiz to the postbox to drop off a parcel, I made it back and I'm still on FL so can confirm so far, so good!
