The 3D Printers Been Busy

Scroll to explore

I will admit it's been a while since I last gave a proper update here, but I have good reason - I've been very busy working on 3D designs to the point where each print now takes at least 7 hours.

My idea is to upgrade my chair for proper adventures, so obviously I need lights, a USB charger for my phone and a horn to sound when I get lost... plus I want protection for the main control box as I drag it in and out of the car... so here's how it started - a basic mount for my USB charger that hooks into the control box:

That went well, a few minor tweaks needed to make it fit perfectly but still not bad, next I went on the hunt for waterproof switches and modified the design a little:

As that went well I started on my idea for a wrap around protective cover for the control box:

As that was roughly the right dimensions I dialed it in a bit and added the sides and then did a test fit, a little bit of tweaking was required:

I then had a thought - wouldn't it be better to have the switches at the top instead of coming from the side of the control box? Much better like this:

As far as test prints go I class this as a success, this is only a mock up but I do eventually plan to add a window for the control box display and print it in a nice purple colour - I'll do another post shortly about the electronics side of things!
